Is the US back to normal mortality levels? - No, it's not, in fact the 12 months ending, saw more excess than the first year of the pandemic!
For the 12 months ending in June 2023, age standardized excess mortality is estimated at +9.7% 95%PI [5.8%, 13.6%]
Here are the absolute numbers:
On a monthly basis, the US is still seeing about ~5% excess mortality, mostly in some younger age groups!

Is the US back to normal mortality levels?
Not good.
but as T Coddington and Mary Pat Campbell show, most of the excess are from drugs, suciude and accidents... i.e. despair deaths... some seemingly from vax but that's small compared to those causes... (note: even small vax deaths is too many!)
